Do you wan to improve your game? Volleyball conditioning exercises are exercises that improve your strength, speed, agility, and endurance for the sport of volleyball. Some examples of volleyball conditioning exercises are:
Plyometrics: These are explosive exercises that train your muscles to generate power and jump higher. Some plyometric exercises for volleyball are box jumps, depth jumps, and lateral hops. Players benefit from these exercises with improved jumping ability to hit or block better on the court. As a player, you’ll want to devote time to these exercises each week, but be sure not to over-do them as they can cause injuries and hinder your progress.
Agility drills: These are exercises that improve your ability to change directions quickly and react to the ball. Some agility drills for volleyball are cone drills, ladder drills, and shuttle runs. Every player can benefit from agility exercises that improve their ability to meet the demands of each game. The better you are at being able to change directions on the court, the more successful you will be as a player. These exercises should be prioritized during the training season before club or school competition begin.
Endurance training: This is exercise that improves your aerobic capacity and allows you to play longer without getting tired. Some endurance training for volleyball are interval sprints, tempo runs, and circuit training. Be sure to give yourself time to focus on these exercises before the season begins so that you begin practices with a foundation of fitness that will allow you to meet the demands of the preseason schedule.
